Banking After a Decline
A decline is rarely the end of the conversation.
Banks decline structures for reasons that often have little to do with the structure itself. Appetite changes. A correspondent withdraws from a corridor. A file arrives without the context the committee needed.
We rebuild the file and present it to a bank that has current appetite for the profile. iKYC is an advisory firm working with licensed banks only.
Why banks decline
A decline reflects the bank, not the structure
A decline usually reflects the bank, the moment or the file. It rarely reflects a flaw in the structure. A prior refusal is a starting point, not a verdict.
Why banks decline
Common causes include a portfolio level withdrawal of appetite, a bank de risking a category of client, a shift in appetite for a jurisdiction or sector, an incomplete source of wealth presentation, or a correspondent route closing.
None of these reflect a problem with the structure. They reflect where that bank stood at that moment.
What we do differently
We find out why the file was declined before we touch it. We rebuild the presentation around what the next bank committee needs to see.
We approach only banks with current appetite for the profile. We do not send the same file to a long list and risk a second decline.
Common decline scenarios
A payment provider closes an operating account without notice.
A private bank exits a long standing trust or family office relationship.
A correspondent withdrawal makes a payment corridor unworkable.
A newly formed structure is declined for limited history.
A US Treasury or refund cheque arrives at a structure with no US banking record.
